Recent accusations against certain star professors shed yet again light on the dangers of academic hierarchies, and what a fellow traveller aptly referred to as the “Star Economy”. Join us for a bonfire as we think together on what it would mean to unsettle this “Star Professor” economy. We will discuss what and how would viable alternatives to the current hierarchical model of academia look like? What alternatives currently exist? What works and what doesn’t? And is there a way to reform academia? During the bonfire we also want to hear from fellow travelers on South/South Movement’s role in finding and amplifying such alternative spaces.
Join us for this open format informal virtual discussion, to be held June 7th, 18:00 CET.
This event is co-organized by Taraf Abu Hamdan and Carolina Bertazolli.
